Our city golf course hosted a Steak Night for the SPCA last week. Every month, the course hosts a Steak Night but this is the first time that it has turned into a “benefit” of sorts. Advanced RSVPs were taken and the course promised 15% of every dinner to be donated to the SPCA.
Things started out a bit slow for this event – as many times is the case. One week, the RSVP total was 20. A couple of weeks later the total had jumped to 40, and then we were upon the week of the event. On Tuesday of that week, our RSVPs had breached the 100 mark and by the day of the event we had to stop taking names. 200 people had turned in their RSVPs!
A member of Board of Directors and a member of the Advisory Board helped to make this event a great success and their enthusiasm didn’t waiver on the day of the dinner. They came by the SPCA and picked up information for the tables, pet pictures for each table, retail items to sell and our 100K Challenge sign to gather petition signatures. We had no idea how well this event would do!
167 ate dinner with the SPCA that night and over $900 was raised through the dinners, retail sales and money gathered at the event for donations. We are now hoping to do this event quarterly!
