Every weekend, the SPCA averages about 4 offsite events, and this past weekend wasn’t any different. Two big events took place – Rudy Conner’s Memorial Birthday Party and Holiday Inn’s Rockin’ for the Dogs Benefit.

Rudy Conner passed away 2 years ago but not after living a life built on a legacy of loving pets. Every year on or around his birthday (July 29) he invited friends and family to party the night away – all to benefit the SPCA. Gifts and donations were brought for the animals along with a special invite to SPCA staff to bring adoptable pets and enjoy the birthday festivities. After his passing, his friends remember him each year by holding the same party with the same goal – helping the animals and saving more lives. This year the event brought in an SPCA van filled with pet food and toys and a check for over $400.

This was our first year for the Holiday Inn Rockin’ for the Dogs event and I’m sure it won’t be our last. The night was filled with live music, raffles and raising awareness about the homeless animals in our area. Pet pictures in frames were placed on each table and we even sold some of our retail items to raise money. It was a great night of glitz and glam but still with a touch of casual fun. Over $2000 was raised at this event!!
