The SPCA recorded 356 adoptions during July. Since 1997, this is the highest recorded month for adoptions.

This increase in adoptions is greatly in part to adoption specials that the SPCA is running – the Year of the Cat and the Black Beauties Specials. The SPCA has also had increased exposure through its Adoption & Pet Boutique at Lakeside Village and many offsite events.

“This is a great way to start the ASPCA $100K Challenge,” said Warren Cox, Executive Director. “We can’t wait to set more records in the coming three months and bring home the grant for $100,000.”

The Year of the Cat Special offers all cat adoptions at $15 and only $5 for people over 65 years old or cats over 7. The Black Beauties Special offers a 50% discount on all adult black dog adoption fees.

The SPCA Adoption & Pet Boutique is located at 1539 Town Center Drive in Lakeland and is open 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

The ASPCA $100K Challenge is offering a $100,000 grant to the shelter that adopts the most animals during August – October. The SPCA is 1 of 50 shelters competing in this nationwide competition.
