Lakeland, Fla. – The 18th Annual Pets on Parade is set for Saturday, April 17 at Lake Hollingsworth in Lakeland.

This year’s event begins at 7 a.m. with registration for the 5K run – a new addition to Pets on Parade. The run begins at 8 a.m. Registration for runners is $25 (humans only, no dogs) and includes a t-shirt, Bow Wow Breakfast and prizes for top runners.

At 8 a.m. walker registration begins and the walkathon starts at 9 a.m. Dogs are welcome, but not required.  Walkers must raise a minimum of $50 to walk, receive a t-shirt, dog bandana, and enjoy the Bow Wow Breakfast. Prizes will be awarded to individual adults, youth and teams who collect the most money.

Activities include Frisbee and obedience demonstrations; a best dressed pet contest; low cost microchipping; and exhibits.  Applications are now being accepted for booth space.

Walkers can set up personal fundraising pages by visiting www.firstgiving.com/spcainc. Participants can create web pages with photos, stories and videos to send to friends and family to raise money for our community’s homeless animals with the click of a mouse.
