You HAVE to come visit the cats in the SPCA cat-a-tats! I’ve spent many hours visiting the cats and kittens and it’s very fulfilling. Sometimes I empty litter boxes and clean up messes the kittens make. Other times I help answer questions for potential adopters. My favorite thing to do, though, is to just sit with the cats inside their temporary living quarters. You get to know the cats, make friends, and make them feel better about being an orphan.

When they first arrive, they are scared of their new, unfamiliar surroundings. They need a human to nuzzle, to pet them and to talk to them in a sweet, caring voice. They need visitors in order to feel less scared about what lies ahead. You must be SPCA staff or a volunteer to do this, so I encourage you to fill out the volunteer application. Come make some orphan cats and kittens feel better about sitting around waiting for that special person to take them home and love them forever. You’ll sleep much better for having done so – at least I do.
