Lemondrop

Lemondrop has a happy and contagious spirit that can't be stopped by his handicap.

Lemondrop was found wandering in Common Ground Park off of Edgewood Drive. After being brought to the SPCA, he went through the same exam that every surrendered animal must go through, and staff made note of the limping and deformities of his back legs. X-rays revealed that Lemondrop’s back legs were once fractured and had healed in such a way that he is unable to use them today. Lemondrop is slightly handicapped and happened to be found in Common Ground Park – the only park in our area that is handicap friendly.

Immediately, he won the heart of every one on staff. Every time he takes a step with his front feet, either his back legs hop along or he tries to use them to no avail. The fractures in his back legs have caused Lemondrop to rely heavily on his front legs which is starting to wear on his joints. He needs a wheelchair to even the weight out and keep his front legs from suffering.

He is in no pain, and all of his nerves are still intact from the rear leg fractures – meaning that he can still control his urges to go to the bathroom. Most importantly, he is one of the sweetest dogs that you will ever meet.
